Procedures for the 2012-2013 School Year

  1. Please call to make an appointment with the Director of Admissions to visit our School. During this visit, the School’s mission, educational philosophy, curriculum, and core values are discussed and parents are given a tour.
  2. Parents complete and submit an Application form with a $50 nonrefundable application fee. If the child is presently attending school, the School Recommendation form should be given to the child’s current teacher. The ADVIS Confidential Common Recommendation Form may be used as an alternative. Either form must be sent directly to Princeton Junior School along with the previous year’s progress and final reports.
  3. The Admissions Office schedules a time for the child to visit Princeton Junior School for the purpose of screening. The length of the screening visit varies with the child’s age.
  4. The Admissions Committee reviews the child’s forms, records, and results of from the screening. Careful consideration is given to ensure that the School is a good fit for each child. Parents are informed of the child’s admission status in late February 2012.
  5. Parents of a child accepted for enrollment submit a non-refundable reservation deposit of $1,000 and a signed Enrollment Contract within a month of receiving notification of acceptance.
  6. After late February notifications are mailed, applications are accepted based on available openings in a given class. A waitlist may be used to determine acceptance status after February.

“This school is very special to all my family. The academic lessons taught here will last a lifetime.”
PJS Staff and Parent
“One of my favorite times of the day is dismissal…listening to the children laughing or discussing their day...There is just such a warm welcoming feeling that comes over me every time I walk through the front door.”
Parent of Alumna and
Grade I Student
“I loved learning about the rainforest (my favorite animals were the Toucan and the Harpee Eagle) and studying about the life of Benjamin Franklin and then telling the K Class about him.”
Grade II Student
At PJS…“I’ve learned to accept everybody for who they are and not to judge people just for what they like or what they do.”
Grade V Student
“PJS teachers have the time, inclination and encouragement to tailor their approach to each child. The work is demanding, but creative….The strong emphasis on helping children to speak up and present their ideas, the creative aspects and the solid preparation for the next step are hugely important.”
Parent of Alumna
